    ISO 15489-1:2016 Records management – Concepts and principles has been published in a time of unprecedented change to the information management landscape. Technologies and infrastructure for making and keeping records are evolving at an astonishing pace. Issues involving access to and management of records, in all their forms, appear in the headlines on an almost daily basis. So it is fitting that the revised edition of the International Standard on Records Management offers a digital-ready set of principles and techniques for the creation, capture and management of records in a fast changing and highly risk-sensitive environment.

    In this webinar Cassie Findlay, Project Lead of the Working Group and Editorial Committee responsible for the development of the new Standard (ISO’s TC46 SC11, Working Group 13) will discuss:

    • the type of Standard that has been developed and why this approach was taken;
    • how the Standard defines some of the key concepts associated with keeping and managing records in today’s world;
    • the principles listed in the Standard for guiding policy and technology decisions for managing records;
    • how the Standard explains the key records control tools and processes;
    • other ISO Standards and reports that support and provide implementation guidance for ISO 15489; and
    • how the Standard can be used in conjunction with prevailing national and industry standards, including ARMA’s Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles®
